Covering 270 hectares of vineyard, the NYON Appellation is the second largest winegrowing region of the Canton de Vaud. It offers a great choice of white grape varieties (Chasselas, Doral, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot blanc, Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer, Viognier, Riesling), as well as red varieties (Gamay, Pinot Noir, Garanoir, Gamaret, Merlot, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Dornfelder), will satisfy all the wine lovers and connoisseurs.
Located between Lake Geneva and the hills of the Jura, the NYON AOC starts on the east with La Serine river, which marks the limit with the BEGNINS Appellation, and on the west side by the edge of the Canton de Vaud.
Vineyards in the region benefit from a special climate well-suited for wine-growing. The proximity effect of Lake Geneva, low rainfalls and intense summer sunshine represent additional favourable factors enabling maturation of grapes. Vineyards located between 400 and 480 meters are considered to be situated at the perfect spot.
Wines of the Nyon Appellation can be tasted in a wine “Caveau” located in the basement of the Castle in Nyon. A variety of tastes and flavours will be proposed to you, either in bottle or in a glass, accompanied by local appetizers.
