One of the most popular attractions in St-George is undoubtedly its ice cave.
The underground cave, with its 8-meters height can be reached by several ladders. The visitor discovers a cave whose walls are constantly frozen, with a length of approx. 20m and a width of 12m, decorated by stalactites and stalagmites.
The story tells that this ice cave was exploited, at the beginning of the 20th century, by a Lausanne-based company who used to supply all the breweries of the region with ice. Horse-transportation was carried out during night time so the ice wouldn’t melt too quickly.
