13km from nyon, is located The ancient cluniac Priory of Bassins.
Only the church of the original rural priory has survived, probably of the 12th century. According to historians, the Priory of Bassins was a dependency of the Priory of Payerne, following a donation by Humbert 1st, Sire of Cossonay and Prangins, previous to the year 1164, when appears the name of the first known Prior, which marks its affiliation with the Abbey of Cluny in Burgundy.
In the bay-windows of the choir and of the North-East chapel, you can admire the stained glasses created by Marcel Poncet (1894 - 1953), an artist who lived in Vich. From the graveyard around the church you can enjoy an exceptional panorama on the Lake Geneva, the Alps and Mont-blanc.
