Concert in black and white
A pioneer of cinema, a live duet
Set to the pop-folk music of the duo Marzella, (re)discover the pioneering filmmaker Alice Guy, the world's first fictional director with her film The Cabbage Fairy, shot in 1896. Yet who remembers her? Who knows her? The names Gaumont, the Lumière brothers and Méliès are familiar and part of popular culture, but where is Alice Guy?
This ciné-concert offers a glimpse into her world, through extracts from her works and interviews. It's a chance to meet a free, creative, committed and humorous spirit. It's a showcase for one of the most inspiring and avant-garde figures in the history of cinema.
These black-and-white images will be carried by the delicate notes of the incandescent duo Marzella, two up-and-coming singer-songwriters whose work has been heard at the Montreux Jazz Festival. The two artists sing in three languages, French, English and Italian, singing electric, sensual songs with bewitching harmonies.
